Palm Pruning
Palm pruning is an important agricultural practice aimed at maintaining the health of the palm tree, increasing its productivity, and improving fruit quality. Pruning is usually done once a year, after the harvest season and before the start of the new flowering season.
Objectives of Palm Pruning:
-
Remove dry and broken fronds to reduce insect accumulation
-
Improve airflow in the palm’s crown
-
Facilitate pollination and harvesting
-
Reduce the palm’s water and nutrient consumption on non-productive parts
-
Lower the risk of farm fires
