Palm Tree Basin Formation

Palm Tree Basin Formation is the process of removing part of the soil surrounding the palm trunk (in a circular basin shape) to improve root aeration, reduce surface soil salinity, and facilitate irrigation and fertilizer distribution.

Objectives of Trunk Shaving:

  • Improve aeration in the root zone

  • Remove accumulated salty soil around the trunk

  • Prevent trunk base rot

  • Ensure water and fertilizer reach the active roots directly
